Waldo Cabrera
President Islip.TV LLC / MyLITV
Executive Producer of The National Video Journalist Network
Waldo Cabrera has over 25 years of professional advertising and marketing experience and he has worked with companies such as:
Fox, HBO, Time Warner, Viacom, The Daily News, WalMart, McDonald's and many more.
After studying advertising in New York City's High School of Art and Design and getting an advertising degree from Syracuse University, it can be said that creative communication is Waldo's way life. A few years working in an entertainment ad agency led Waldo to 4Kids Entertainment, the company that brought Pokémon to the United States.
During his 12 years at 4Kids, he was part of a stunning growth period that saw the company go from about twenty five employees to over three hundred. First serving as art director, then creative director and finally as a VP of 4Kids Home Video, he helped establish world-wide brands such as Nintendo, Ninja Turtles, Yu-Gi-Oh! and Pokemon.
In 2007, Waldo launched the video news website ISLIP.TV. It it’s first year, Islip TV won two “Best on Long Island” Awards from the LI Ad Club, a FOLIO Award for outstanding journalism and honors from the NY State Senate, NY State Assembly, Suffolk County and from the Town of Islip.
In 2008 the Islip.TV team was covering events far beyond its borders, so, in order to reflect our expanded reach, the company was rebranded MyLITV.com. Then in 2009 MyLITV joined the Verizon FiOS1 News in in changing how Long Islanders get their local news by finally providing alternate voice to our towns.
The My Long Island TV show, has been nominated for a NY Emmy Award and won dozens of journalism awards from the Fair Media Council (Folio Awards), the Long Island Press Club and The Telly awards.
For Waldo, it’s a pleasure to get up each morning and report on the people and events that make Long Island great. With millions of wonderful people doing so much good, he expects to be doing his TV features for a very long time.
